Bz 0 – Havoc 5

The sweet, sweet smell of Spring is in the air. Not flowers, no. Not even the honey-sweet smell of dew evaporating on a gentle meadow I know so many of our readers love so much. The only season that concerns us for the next few months is Spring League, the annual “Oh God How Did I Get So Out Of Shape So Quickly” portion of our beer league careers. Surely this will be the Summer of Love?

Bladezillas 0 – Havoc 5

This is not the Summer of Love.

The first period was very tight. If my memory serves me (ah, writing before Planet Ice updates the box scores!) the first goal didnt come till around the halfway point and was a high shot from an angle. The game was close and pretty straight forward -we hadn’t played in a few weeks but neither team (they went to the finals, I believe, they perhaps should have been exhausted? what gives?) looked very good early on.

Their first goal did seem to open the tap, however, leading to 5 unanswered goals. The game wasn’t chippy at first but got there eventually tho I wouldn’t say penalties cost us the game. We actually had several good powerplays – the refs did a great job overall – but we couldn’t capitalize.

Some highlights!

Sean had a strong game, carrying the puck well and generating some offense. A good game for a forward that is! Herp derp. Also a pretty good game for a defenceman! Won’t even lie.

Dewey fell several times, that was exciting. Fall once, shame on he. Fall 12 times, get new knees? Or whatever.

Pat had a pretty fantastic game. Yes, a few goals went in, but considering the 3 breakaways he had to be a bloody allstar for i am not sure this was not entirely his fault. he probably kept us in it when we shouldn’t have been. One guy did slip through half the team (he actually got in our bench walked around and through us and then back on the ice) to score. So maybe we should stop those guys, I dont know.

It seems odd after the game. Yes, there was a scrum after the game and they got a bunch of PIM, but we seemed to have a good chat (those Bz who stayed around). Canucks were joked about. The renegades were hated on a little.

I think Pat made a new goalie friend.
