Royals: 6 – Bladezillas: Hopes Of A Generation Crushed

As I was leaving the arena Sunday night I couldnt help but notice the ominous lack of flames erupting from the broken windows of overturned cars littered chaotically around the parking lot. I kept the speedometer under 10, patiently waiting for a trash bin to explode through my windshield – I would have accepted a brick, really, anything! – but… no. All was quiet. A little too quiet? Perhaps. I tried to rationalize away my fear that no one cared about our loss. Perhaps everyone within screaming distance of the rink had already killed themselves, by our refreshing Bladezilla brand CherryZilla Kool-Aid or ritually by blade? (Dewey, I would be honored to be your Second. I promise your head will remain until the second cut – do not un-man yourself by crying out!) Oh well. There is always spring league – bring your friends!

Royals 6 – Bladezilla 4
As is always the excuse – excuses! – its hard for me to do a detailed recap 10 hours after the game ended. It always takes time for the league to update the boxscore, of course. TSN they are not. But lets roll the dice and see how much I remember! If I remember a lot I want to say not drinking after a game does wonders for the memory. If – and this is more likely – I have very few specifics to relate I should note that I am an idiot and that you all know this and you shouldnt hold it against me.
Round 2, game 3, found the Beezee in the most important game in the history of the franchise. The 5th straight most important game, in fact. Such is the burden of “success!” We got our first win this season and then the first series. We won to extend round 2… lets face it, it was all gravy at this point. But winning, like blogging, is it’s own reward! And it was close.

The game was 0-0 for a lot longer than the final score would suggest. Of course, when the gates opened they opened wide, with the Royals going up 4 or perhaps even 5-1 at one point in the 2nd. As is often the case we did shoot ourselves in the foot a few times with pointless penalties and that set us back. To be fair they also scored short handed, I think, but I honestly believe we could have won that game if we played a little more aggressive and stayed out of the box a bit. That being said:

Defend your team. Yes, we were in the box, and, yeah, that sucks, but I did see a few penalties taken in defence of our guys. If you run Mike (Richards – Pollard they can have) Rob will hit you back. maybe even if you dont, but… Dont hack Pat or Troy is gonna getchoo, sucka. Dont look at Sean the wrong way or he is going to punch your goaltender square in the mask. I am not making a great argument, I know that. I am the only person speaking, I dont have to! But in my defence for all the skill of the Royals they are a whiney pack of douchebags. How can someone have the skill of #22 and be so bloody confused about simple things? The look of shock on his face every time someone retaliated for a cheap play was great. And #3. Our very own semi-pro Crosby. The difference between confident and blatant, loud-mouthed arrogance isnt exactly a chasm-esque grey area. You blow around 4 guys and score? Maybe taunting the opposition when your up 4 goals isnt needed. But what do I know! I just play here.

Will got a pair of really nice goals from the point – bombs, really. Richie Richards (differentiating the Mikes is exausting) got one I want to say. Im going to leave the last goal, scored aith 18 seconds left in the game, open. I want to leave a little mystery in our game, I guess. In conclusion 6-4 is a respactable game, lets get some secondary scoring for teh spring league and Bz! Yay!
I would like to take this time to have a quiet moment for my 2nd Sickick which perished Sunday night. Like my Sickick II before it, my 10k gave its all for the team. Really, my stick deserved a little dinosaur award, truth be told. While it didnt have the 3 year Tour Of Duty my previous Sickick had it fought the good fights and it will be missed. RBK Sickick III 10k 2011-2012. On to the wall it goes.
