Leafs 7 – Bz 3
Was that game a 4 goal blowout? I dont know. Perhaps? Some know-it-all “mathamaticians” with their fancy “calculators” might say, “yes, we lost by 4 goals.” Thanks, brainiacs! I may have to count on my fingers but I can count (thank God another goal wasnt scored, though). Semantics. We didnt lose because we allowed 4 more goals then them. We lost that game because we did not play as a team. Yes we had some holes in defence with Will and Troy not able to play but players fell back, played positions they didnt usually and did a fine job. Dan, I want to say? It felt like we didnt have any sense of urgency. We didnt backcheck very hard. We gave up a lot of odd-man rushes. A few times when sean or rob would press in and carry the puck someone would drop back and cover but it wasnt every time and it needs to be.
We had some highlights, too. It was good to play with Stevie again and he got 2 goals and some assists. Mind that neither were pretty YOU DONT DESERVE THEM STEVE DAMN YOU WHY CAN MR ZILLA NOT TALLY THE POINTS. Pat had to make some good poke check sprawling saves against #66 who seemed to have free access to our zone. We stayed out of the penalty box! More on that in a bit. Doyle had a nice tip that went top corner. I give him the point but not the credit! That was a blast from the point to be sure. Good work all around on that one, we deserved some puck luck.
Speaking of penalties (and we were!) Mr Zilla wants to say good job staying out of the box. I didnt notice a lot of hacking or chirping on either side so it made for some decent hockey. Despite the score that game felt pretty balanced for the most part.
